Another way to create a link for your PDF is by using cloud storage services like Google Drive, Dropbox, or OneDrive. For now, I am showing an example using Google Drive:

Upload the PDF to cloud storage:

  • Go to your Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or the other storage service of your choice.
  • Upload the files to the storage service.
  • Locate your file in storage.
  • Right-click on the file and select “Share” or open the file to find the sharing option.

Customize the Access Options

Adjust the access options as needed. Mainly, you want to keep the General access to “Anyone With the Link” and keep everyone as a “Viewer” to avoid any problems.

Now, you can share the copied link wherever you need, whether it is sending it through an email or through text.

This method is useful if you’re already using cloud storage or need to share large files.

If you have your website, you can host the PDF there:

Upload the PDF

  • Access your website’s File Manager through your hosting control panel.
  • Navigate to the directory where you want to store the PDF file and upload it.

Once uploaded, you can copy the link to the PDF. It would look like this: https://www.yourwebsite.com/yourfile.pdf

You can insert the link using the visual editors of your content management system or use HTML to create a clickable link:

<a href="https://www.yourwebsite.com/yourfile.pdf" target="\_blank"> Download the PDF </a>

This method is ideal if you want full control over your file hosting and already have a website. If you want to learn more methods on how you can embed a PDF as link using HTML, you can check out this guide: How to Create a Link to Open a PDF File in HTML.

Once you have a URL for your PDF, you can use various free online QR code generators to create a QR code, this guide can help you to create a QR code from PDF. Users can then scan this code with their smartphones to access the PDF.

If you’re using a cloud storage service, you can often update the file while keeping the same link. In the case of Tiiny, you can use the in-built editor to host or upload a new file keeping the same link name, and users can access it with the same link. However, if you’ve shared a direct download link, you’ll typically need to create a new link for the updated file.

Choose a mobile-friendly hosting platform, and consider using responsive PDF viewers. You might also want to optimize your PDF for mobile viewing by adjusting font sizes and layout.
